7 Ideas on How to Celebrate Mother’s Day in Hong Kong

Celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May, we mark the date to express our love to the one who raised us, rooted when no one was there, and personally speaking, best friend of mine. This year, Mother’s day takes place on May 14, 2023.

Do you want to do something different this year with your mother? Here are 7 perfect ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in Hong Kong.

Iconic Hong Kong 3D Frame Wall Art

A 3D frame would make a great surprise for some change in the room. If you want you and your mum to reminisce about the moments of Hong Kong, explore the Wander with Nicole wall art collection. With the iconic elements of Hong Kong as the subject, the miniature figurine finishes the whole canvas with the Hong Kong spirit! The most popular 3D frames among the mothers would be the white framed original star ferry 3D frame!

1000 Piece Colours of Hong Kong Puzzle Version 2 for a fun Mother's Day activity

Brain teasers are always some fun gifts to give to your mum especially when she’s the persevering type (which in my opinion all mothers are in their own way). You can spend quality time with your mother digging the 4 corner pieces and what’s even more amazing is what you can create out of our 2nd Edition 1000 piece puzzle: Colours of Hong Kong.

You might also want to buy a frame [from Ikea] for this puzzle as well!

Flower's for Mother's Day

Flowers are one of the classics but a perfect way to express your love for any special occasion like Mother’s day. Bouquet or single flowers, colorful or single colors, it makes a great present. All flowers has meanings to them and these are the one’s associated with love:

  • Carnation: Fascination, distinction and love
  • Roses: Love and romance
  • Tulips: Perfect and deep love
  • Sunflowers: Adoration, loyalty, and longevity

Hong Kong has a flower market in Mong Kok that sells, try wandering around to find your favourite selection.

Mothers Day Activities in Hong Kong

Afternoon Tea together with Mom

If you and your mother are a gourmet in sweets, try the afternoon tea in the Butterfly Room because it never fails you with all the savory sandwiches, pastries, and desserts they have.

It’s located inside the Rosewood Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The course is introduced with the traditional finger sandwiches, with a cake stand filled with pastries with the classic scones (their orange jams are heavenly). The 3 varieties of pastries and chocolates (was my favorite) came after that. I recommend you to go with an empty stomach because the portions are a lot. Their desserts change seasonally so it would be a nice surprise to see what they offer!

They only accept bookings on 1st of every month and are booked really quickly. Make sure to plan ahead for this afternoon tea!

Price Range: $550 ~ $850 per person

Private Hong Kong Street Photography Workshop Together with Mom

Want to spend quality time with your mum but also feel productive? Photography workshops are something that might be something you and your mum might like. You can explore Hong Kong and have fun as well as learn a new skill, photography skills. Composition, color, and angling are only a few of the lists of things you can learn through the session.

Wander with Nicole offers both group classes and private photography workshops so you can mix with others or plan a private session with your mom.  Find out more about how to plan your own private photography work shop here.
