Meet Nicole: Your Hong Kong Adventure Guide (Who Makes Epic Chocolate Cakes)

Hi! I'm Nicole, and I've been falling more in love with Hong Kong's streets every single day for more than 10 years.

Let me guess - you're here because you want someone who actually GETS Hong Kong, right? Someone who won't just drag you to the same tired Instagram spots everyone else shoots?

Perfect. You've found her.

The real story

I'm 36, originally from Vancouver, and I've been calling Hong Kong home for more than 10 years now. But here's what makes me different: I've lived in 8 countries over 16 years, worked as a professional nanny for 15 years, and somehow ended up in Sai Kung with my fiancé, two incredible stepsons (ages 10 & 11), and two rescue dogs who couldn't be more opposite.

Meet the family:

Zen: Our papillon rescue from LAP - totally zen, toothless, and loves being carried like a baby (don't judge, it's adorable)

Luna: Our poodle who's desperately attention-seeking and wants the family together ALL THE TIME

The boys: Who've learned that having a photographer stepmom means lots of photo books and memories, but also epic chocolate cakes shaped like treasure chests, Lego kingdoms, Pokemon, and Harry Potter scenes

Why I Know Hong Kong Inside & Out

Here's something you won't find on any other photographer's resume: I'm accredited by the Hong Kong Tourism Industry Council (TIC) as a qualified tour guide.
It's actually a requirement if you want to take foreign guests around Hong Kong professionally, and while I do still lead some tours, the knowledge the training gave me was absolutely priceless.
What this means for you: I don't just know where to take the perfect shot - I know WHY these places matter. When we're exploring together, whether for a photography workshop or family session, you're getting the full story. How that street corner became iconic. What makes that market so special. The history behind the view that takes your breath away.
Most photographers can capture a beautiful image. I can capture a beautiful image AND tell you exactly why that moment matters in Hong Kong's incredible story.
This is what happens when someone who's genuinely obsessed with this city gets the official training to share it properly. You get both the technical photography skills AND the insider knowledge that makes every shot more meaningful.

Why Families Trust Me Completely

Here's the thing about being a professional nanny for 15 years - I speak fluent kid. I know how to motivate children, form quick connections, and work with family dynamics instead of against them.

When parents tell me "My kids hate photos," I just smile. Because I know that in 10 minutes, those same kids will be showing me their favorite hiding spots and asking if they can take pictures too.

The boys and I make annual photo books together, plus books from every trip we take. They've learned that photos aren't just pictures - they're memories for when we're old and gray.

Where I live:

Sai Kung - our little family retreat where I wake up to birds chirping and palm trees outside my window. It's our peaceful base away from Hong Kong's beautiful chaos.

Where I love to photograph:

Mong Kok! Give me those hectic markets, busy streets, and new sights, sounds (and unfortunately sometimes smells) every single time I wander through.

Daily Fuel & Favourite Dim Sum

Chai tea latte and homemade chicken feet stock (yes, really - it's why my skin looks this good at 36!)

Cheung fun with shrimp at our go-to spot in Prince Edward

The "Wandering" Philosophy

"Wander with Nicole" isn't just cute branding - it's literally how I work.

I get lost on purpose. I jump on buses and get off at stops that "look cool." I wander down random alleys because that's where the magic happens. My coolest discovery? How incredibly dynamic and diverse Hong Kong really is - even after all these years.

This is exactly what we'll do together. No cookie-cutter Instagram locations. No rushing from spot to spot. Just pure exploration until we find YOUR Hong Kong story.
